Darien, CT – Peter Troilo and Robert Troilo recently joined the Board of Directors for Turning Wine into Water, a 501 (c) (3) public charity based out of Darien, Connecticut, whose mission is making clean water available to some of the world’s poorest populations.

“I am proud to have my sons Peter and Robert on our Board of Directors and continue to join us in our efforts to alter some of the horrible statistics on the availability of clean water in Africa,” said Nicholas Troilo, Founder and President of Turning Wine into Water. “As many as 26,000 children under the age of 5 die every day because they lack access to clean water. While this is unacceptable what is even worse is that every single one of these deaths is preventable. Turning Wine into Water will continue to work to improve lives by providing resources to dig wells and present access to clean water.”

Turning Wine into Water was founded in 2005 by Nicholas Troilo, whose alarm at the harsh realities faced by families in Africa who lacked access to clean water compelled him and his two sons/business partners, Robert and Peter, to begin contributing a portion of wine sales from special events and Wine of the Month memberships to the construction of a clean water well in Zambia. With that act, Turning Wine into Water was born. Since its inception, the organization has helped over 5,500 people gain access to clean water.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to put my knowledge of wine and culinary experience to use for Turning Wine Into Water,” Robert Troilo said. “Additionally, it is nice to continue to work with my father and brother in fulfilling our company’s mission statement ‘enriching other lives through food and wine.’”

Robert Troilo began his career in 1990 helping his father, Nicholas, operate the family’s wine shop in Darien. He attended the French Culinary Institute from which he received a certificate in Culinary Arts in April of 1999. Robert launched the catering division of his family’s company in 2001 which today encompass a Gourmet Bistro as well. Robert, who holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Providence College, serves as the Executive Chef of both divisions.

Peter Troilo is the Managing Director of Nicholas Roberts Fine Wines in Darien, Connecticut. He attended the University of Vermont and graduated from Fairfield University where he majored in business and finance. Peter has a wide following on Twitter where he shares his notes from tasting more than 40 wines each week.

Peter and Robert are both graduates of The Fairfield College Preparatory School.
